Director of Peer Support Services

Position Overview

As the Director of Peer Support Services, you will oversee the daily operations of the recovery coaching team and the Recovery Center, ensure the delivery of high-quality support services, and foster a collaborative and empowering environment for both staff and clients.

Location(s): Onsite. Petoskey, Michigan – Some travel required.

Position Title Reports to: Executive Director                   

Salary Grade: Full Time, Salaried with benefits            

Salary Range: $48,000 – $52,000 DOE

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervision and Leadership:
    • Oversee, manage, and lead our Peer Recovery Coach team. Coach the coaches, including but not limited to regular one-on-one meetings, implementing human resource policies and CRA’s procedures, creating annual work plans, performance evaluations, and work with the Executive Director on corrective action plans.
    • Lead weekly coaching team meetings to discuss cases, best practices, and address any challenges.
    • Manage and coordinate schedules for coaching team, Center, events, etc. Including setting coaches’ schedules, Center Monitor schedules, as well as coordinating schedules for events, outside meetings, etc.
    • Offer guidance on complex cases and assist coaches in developing individualized recovery plans for clients.
  • Peer Recovery Coaching
    • Periodically provide peer coaching to individuals and their families.
    • Lead weekly recovery meetings at the Center and fill in for coaches at other meetings, as needed. 
    • Organize and oversee programs and support groups, workshops, and education classes focused on recovery topics.
  • Program Management and Development
    • Oversee the implementation of program policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulations.
    • Management of the new Recovery Community Center.
    • Ensure that Peer Recovery Coaches provide effective, client-centered support and advocacy.
    • Develop programs for CRA including working with the collaborative team to build a new program to support pregnant and parenting people.
    • Oversee CRA’s peer services including our re-entry supports programs and harm reduction programs.
    • Continue and expand efforts to build awareness of Community Recovery Alliance in the community through outreach, education, and community events by representing CRA within the local community events.
  • Training and development:
    • Conduct training sessions for new and existing Peer Recovery Coaches to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and recovery-oriented approaches to inform training and development.
    • Develop and manage training and professional development annual plans for all coaches, including creating a system for tracking progress.
  • Quality Assurance and Data Collection:
    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of recovery services, including center usage, client interaction, coaching sessions, and outcome.
    • Develop systems to track client satisfaction and outcomes.
    • Maintain accurate record of all client interactions and program activities.
    • Collect, manage, and oversee programming data collection in RDP.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Implement strategies for continuous improvement based on feedback and performance metrics.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting for grant tracking and reporting to leadership.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Work in collaboration with team members, managers, directors, and the administrative
    • Be able to be a self-starter with tasks, but also manage the other coaches with their projects.
    • Work closely with the Executive Director on grants and administrative needs.
    • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and events as needed.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • MDHHS Certified Peer Recovery Coach, preferred. Minimum of CCAR Peer Recovery Coach. Must be willing to complete MDHHS CPRC program within 6 months of hire*.
  • 3+ years of professional coaching experience required.
  • 1+ year of people supervision/management experience required, 2+ year preferred.
  • Program management experience, program and/or training development a plus.
  • Lived experience of Recovery and knowledge of recovery.
  • Current State of Michigan Driver License with at least Liability Insurance coverage (for driving to and from events. No transportation of clients is permitted.)**
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • ASIST Training and/or Mental Health First Aid a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Patience and understanding.
  • Experience with volunteer recruitment and management a plus.

* This position is funded in part or in full by a grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).   • Ability to travel to meetings, appointments, and events. 
  • Experience with hosting and planning events.

Working Conditions and Benefits

Most of the hours will be onsite at Petoskey’s Recovery Community Center. Periodic evenings and weekend shifts may be required. Some travel required for programming.

No transportation of clients is permitted.
